i finally got time to post on this blog.
Such an innovative idea to ask people to blog about the trip..
anyways, though the trip was like donkey weeks ago, i still remembered it quite clearly.
the staff, the instructor, the members of HWA were all wonderful people who inspired me alot.
Being able to communicate with these less abled people really made me wonder how ungrateful i am. I should thank God more often because i am able to move and get to different places easily.
It is sad at times to see these people. However, they don't want our pity but our support.
To see them not loosing faith on themselves and living life to the fullest really made me admire them. Their courage ought to teach us a value.
I am pleased to see that the HWA has done so much to help the people.
I am glad that there are generous people out there to help fund the non- government aided association.
when the instructor showed us the equipments designed to help the less abled, i was uber impressed. I was especially impressed with the cupboard one.
The 4s2 performance was mainly performed by our talented Keng Leong of course who played three songs on the recorder and he was really impressive.
I think the viewers enjoyed his the most cause they look kind of ecstatic while clapping to his performance. lols.
the stomp wasnt that well performed but the singing of the two songs were great!
The basketball wheelchair game was fun and interesting. Truly an unforgettable experience.
We took quite a number of photos with them too.
They looked really happy to see us.
Being able to go to HWA is truly an opportunity for us to open our eyes big-big and realise that we should be greatful for what we have.
I learned alot and i shall treasure those memories.

hmm... wad should i say first??? probably i just cut it short..

firstly, HWA has taught me alot.
somehow, i now tt happiness is not oni not from ourselves,within. but from other people's expression as their smiles shine not fomr the face, but directly from the heart.

secondly, i learnt that a little action from us, can actually mean alot to them!!
by tt little action we make, we get more rewards back in return. that is true happiness.

hmm... i guess tt is wad i wanna say most.

hey no harm bringing joy to pp's life rite? so do it more often!! haha...

trip to hwa.

the trip to hwa made me realise how fortunate i really am. i am able to move without any help at all while the people there who are physically challenged had to have equipments in order to move around. Luckily, there are now sophisicated equipments that trains them to be independent. For example, the man who brought us around hwa told us about how the kitchen of their houses are specially designed so that cooking utensils are within their reach. they can even take clothes from a tall cupboard with the help of a long wooden pole attached to the cupboard. my class, 4s2, performed for the people there.There was a perfomance by keng leong who played 3 songs on the recorder. the funny thing was that all 3 songs he played were sad songs and it was suit the environment there. lol. Next there was a stomp in which its coordination was not as good as expected due to lack of practices. Lastly, there was a group of girls who sang a really nice song. We gave the people there jellies and took photos with them.Next, we were brought to the air-conditioned room again to view a slideshow. The slideshow had some questions which its multiple choices options were both ridiculous and funny. Finally, we went to the carpark to play basketball while in wheelchair. i get a taste of how to move around with the wheelchair. At first it was quite difficult but after a while, i got a hang of it and enjoyed thoroughly playing basketball.

the trip to HWA was a meaningful n unforgettable one. my class was e first one sent to HWA and we were rather unprepared but fortunately we still manage to perform quite alright there. we had three recorder-played songs by kengleong, a stomp and two other songs sung by a few of us. we interacted wif the members there n took alot of photos. next we were bought ard the place to know more bout wad the members do over there. oso learn tat the members although they are physically challenged, they are independent n tink positively. tis makes appreciates myself more cos i lead a much better n easier life compared to them. so wadvea it is, i will cherish my life more. we oso played wheelchair bball, it was quite fun.

A trip to HWA was really fun and enjoyable. My class, 5B1, spent six hours drawing and painting ... it was great! as we gain some experience there... we hope that the people at HWA will like our paintings... haha...

Yoz..

Before we board the BUS,
We were EXCITED about what would be going to happen at HWA.
We were NERVOUS COZ
We have NOT prepared well for the performance at HWA.
In fact,
We DIDN'T have any rehearsal.
It was like !words speak louder than actions!.. LOL
Fortunately,
We MANAGED to entertain the HWA members by singing two songs.

** LOOK AT THE SMILE ON THEIR FACES**

I TRULY enjoyed my CIP at HWA.
I found the trip to HWA was MEANINGFUL
I am able to undergo the difficulties in their LIVES.
The people there were very HOSPITALITY and SHY
And also OPEN-MINDED.
Both the WA people and us were SHY BUT
We manage to BREAK THE ICE and KEEP THE BALL ROLLING..

But if DONE in long hours,
Yours hands could be INFLICTED by stapling the papers and pasting addresses.

zZz.. blogging tis at 6 in the morning on good friday.
hmm.. hwa was very fun and we also get to learn alot of things bout the disabled and their lives. think opss should organise more tis type of cip every year and not just for the sec4s only. go around pick up litter who also can do. think more suitable for pri sch pupils...
at there we played wheelchair bball. then still got other ppl use the wheelchair to race. haha. we also 'performed' for the people there and i think the performance was quite good considering the fact that we were the first class to go to hwa and did not rehearse at all.
our class did have a fun and memorable time there though.
finished blogging at 8.. slept halfway while doing this. lol

The cip was interesting and memorable! our group made a mini-stomp performance and we sang 'more than words'. I felt a little bit dumb doin' that stomp performance. we ain't got rhythm at all! all of us was just bangin and hittin the pails at our own will. we need coordination gals! seriously. but our performance turned out quite alright.

We took pictures with them... and we give them jellies! even to the volunteers..assuming that they were one of the handicaps. They have classes for the handicap like computer and art classes. i think that is a great thing to have because it gives an opprtunity for the handicap to learn skills. we should not look down on them and not allowing them to join these useful classes just because they are handicap and wheelchair-bound. they are humans too.it may be a little bit hard for them to grasp these skills. but it didn't matter, right?

They are also things specially made and improvised for them. for example the cabinets of the kitchen. its very different when compared to our kitchen cabinets at home. their sink is lower and the cabinets under it were removed, so that they could wash dishes easily. there are much more gadgets and stuff made for them.
the trip has touched me and opened my eyes. there are many people that are having a lot of odds and are physically challenged out there. this has made me appreciate myself more and i have a much easier life than them. i think i complain less and love myself better. i really appreciate what god have given me, all of us should.

he who would have beautiful roses in his garden must have beautiful roses in his heart ..

ok.. shall start here.. right now!

The trip to HWA was fun and meaningful
as we had brought some joy and smiles to the disabled.
The smiles on their faces had shown us that they had enjoyed
our performances.
Even though our performances were on for a short duration,
but it had at least brought the disabled people smile.
Some of us had performed while some were standing at the
corridors giving the group of people performing some support.

I had enjoyed myself in this meaningful trip.
I had learnt some stuff that the disabled was capable of.
Such as the how to use the computer and others.
I also had learnt that disabled could live normally like the
way that we lived.
They could make their own meals.

When my class were playing the wheelchair basketball, most of us had a great time.
As it had definitely test our patience on the way we control the wheelchair.
Many of us tried to shoot the ball into the basket.
Most of the time, many of us did not throw into the ring.
But we had a fun time playing the wheelchair basketball.

I had learnt a number of things through this trip and most of all
many disabled need moral support from the others to give them
some hope so that they won't think that they are useless.
I hoped that they had enjoyed our visit to HWA
and hope that they would like our performances.

----- For the cip programme this yr,, our class went to HWA. ii feel that tis trip is very meaningful and interesting.
We have put up performances n ii think tat the physically disabled ppl there enjoyed our performances!! After tat,, we went to take some great pics wid the ppl over there. The disabled ppl there are very nice n friendly n ii think that WE are very fortunate !!. =)
After seeing the different rooms tat the guide(forgot his name*oopss*) had showed us,, my class mates have a chance to play wheelchair basketball there. It's not easy at all,, playing basketball in the wheelchair itself. We have fun durin that time,, trying to score n oso to pass the ball ard. I noe it's hard to control the wheelchair n i feel tat the disabled ppl are very brave.
Afterall ,, ii feel that the ppl there have a postive outlook in life. This trip to HWA is indeed a memorable n special one. It teaches us how to treasure our precious life n oso not to take things for granted. Although our class is not so well prepared wid the performance at first ,, we did a great job afterall!! Seeing the smilex on the disabled ppl's faces,, ii learnt tat we shld appreaciate the ppl ard us n oso to tink postivetly!!

The trip to HWA was definitely a nice one. =] i enjoyed it alot. having to chance to bring smiles into their lives and hearts is definitely something i wish to do. it doesnt matter how many of us went to HWA, but the amount of effort we put in for our performances. well, i can say my class did pretty well. everything was nice. Kudos to other classes too. 4S2 did pretty good as well. well, actually it doesnt matter which class go there, it's the thought and heart that counts. =]

the trip to HWA was a great 1...4a1 put up performances,that was so cool...the dance that they took time to practice,it turned out to be perfect..songs were sung[last minute arrangement]by amelia,jasmine,jesline,edwin,siang ann[solo]...

I'd gain more knowledge about life of the less fortunate..some were born that way,but some are in that state because of accident...I've learnt about the kind special of equipments n tools they use and the exercises they do to improve on their condition...

the last part of our trip there...wheelchair basketball!!!it's a new experience to me..learnt how to control a wheelchair..but i will NEVER want to get on the wheelchair for life..

this cip was a different and new exposure for us..as we are able to understand and learn new things..

Hi all i don't really think that this is a cip trip. I felt that i don't deserve the CIP hours that was given to me. i felt that we should involve everyone in future i am one of those that did not really get involve in it. some of the resident there don't really feel very happy. This trip to HWA was a very meaningful trip which showed us that there are still lots of people out there who are more unfortunate and who needs more care. I have aso learn to cherish my life more and aso to treasure people around me. Even though people there are physically disable , they are still able to do alot of things such as playing sports and doing home chores themselves. I really enjoy this trip to HWA alots!

The CIP is not really that meaningful.It seems more like a learning trip rather than CIP.In past few years,every single person get to contribute in the CIP.However,this year not everyone participated.For example,my class 4S1 only a few guys performed singing while the others barely did anything.Nevertheless,this trip to HWA raised our awarness of these physically disabled people. The last CIP in Opss is bound to be the most memorable one. My class went there and performed for the disabled people there. I could see that the people there were enjoying
our performances as there were smiles on their faces when the performance was going on. Keng Leong blew the recorder, others sang two songs and some did a storm. This trip to HWA was definitely most

Alright.

We went to HWA for our CIP this year.

I find it very interesting.

It's a totally different experience to me.

The members of HWA are very friendly and supportive towards us.

Our class performed a dance and some songs.

I guess it turned out to be quite good.

Our class spent quite some time preparing for the performance and we even made a card for them.

I learnt alot of stuffs there through the manager, Andrew.

He showed us how those physically disabled people can also be independent just like any other normal person.

I think we are very fortunate to be this state.

It's not easy for those physically disabled people be totally independent.

They still need alot of effort to do simple things like getting up from the bed and so on.

Ya, so i think this trip to HWA was a very good experience.

trip to HWA was one tat i would remember as it shows how handicaps can still live a normal life even in such condition...not only tat but also the performances my class did....we had a dance, three songs and even made a card for them...the card was designed by our artist edwin tan and aw baoxin.....they did a great job in designin the extremely beautiful card...the performances were great...i could see the smile on the faces of the people there...i would always remember the person sittin right in front of me durin the first performance..he was a great audience...he applaude when we were about to begin n as we ended...
somethin i learnt from tis trip was tat there were gadgets so as to suit different disabilities...there was even a room used as practice for the people to live a normal life...
i guess tat is about all i have...i really enjoyed my trip there....having to learn about the lives of these disabled people changed my perspective of disabled people.......i would like to thank the school for allowin us to ge there as CIP...and also to the class of 4A1 for puttin up a great performance for them............

Our class went to HWA for the CIP programme. This trip has helped a lot of us to realise how difficult life could be for the disabled and how fortunate our lives are. After this trip, I feel a need to treasure my life more.

I found this C.I.P one of the most unique C.I.P in my school life. All the while i have been doing like cleaning the park or the beach or something like that, but this years cip i went to HWA to visit some physically disabled people. Went i stepped into HWA, i saw a few of these unfortunate person and the guy who guide us there told us that some of them actually were disable after some accident which i felt sorry for them. We did alot of things like watching the show about HWA and visiting some of the patients there. During the later part of the trip, my classmates performed some songs for them and i think they did enjoy the songs as they were clapping along. I was happy they could find their performance enjoyable. Nearing the end of our trip there, we had a game of wheelchair basketball. It allowed us to ourselfs in their shoes and played some sports they play, using wheelchair. I found it quite interesting and fun but i dont think it is that fun for those people who are permanantly bounded to the wheelchair. In the whole, i think it was a nice experience there.

lets see... on 22nd mar 06...our class went to HWA... the performances were funny :)
our card was veryvery nicely and beautifully done by... BAO XIN n edwin...
everybody especially the audience look happy?? hahax. they were clapping after the dance... the songs sung left everybody speechless??? hahax. anyway i think all of us enjoyed our trip...

the wheelchair basketball was veryvery fun! hahax. the people there seems friendly to me n i rmb this veryvery cute uncle who took a photo wit us... shall end it here.. peace out :)

WE WERE THE FIRST CLASS TO GO TO HWA.WE PERFORMED 3 ITEMS FOR THEM...FLUTE PERFORMANCE,STOMP AND A CHINESE SONG.....THE PEOPLE THERE ARE REALLY NICE...ALTHOUGH THEY ARE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED BUT THEY ARE STILL VERY POSITIVE TOWARDS LIFE....AFTER THE PERFORMANCE,WE WALKED AROUND HWA AND PLAYED BASKETBALL ON WHEELCHAIR.IT IS DEFINITELY BETTER THAN PICKING RUBBISH IN THE PARK FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS.....
I THINK THIS WAS THE BEST CIP EVER.......I FOUND THIS CIP EXTREMLY USEFUL AND FUN.....I LEARNT ALOT OF THINGS FROM THIS TRIP. AFTER THIS TRIP, I LEARNT TO CHERISH MY LIFE MORE AND TO CARE FOR THE PEOPLE AROUND US...EXTREMLY OUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS....NOT ONLY THAT, I THINK EVERYOME OF US SHOULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE SOCIETY BY VISITING THEM MORE OFTEN... IT DO MAKE ALOT OF DIFFERENCE TO THEM....MANY PEOPLE IN HWA ARE VERY LONELY AND SO WE MUST VISIT THEM MORE OFTEN TO SHOW THEM THAT THE WORLD HAD NOT DESERTED THEM AND THAT THE COMMUNITY STILL CARE FOR THEM....
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS TRIP AND I WILL DEFINITELY MAKE ANOTHER VISIT THERE!!!!:)

My class visited hwa as part of our cip..to me it was a meaningful event an opportunity for me to mingle with the less fortunate.we neglect our responsibilities as PART OF THE society we did not have time for the needies..the visit to hwa was very much appreciated .on my visit to hwa I realized dat hwa was not as well off as what I had thought ,ti is an organization not supported by the govt.we wen there and perform for the ppl and they were very pleased n I oso was very happy

okie..ive nvr lyked cip..because....we have to pick litters -_- or COLLECT OLD NEWSPAPER!!LOL!so far the only cip i ever enjoyed was the trip to yunnan=) BUT,this year de cip is also very enjoyable lo..we went to hwa..and performed for them..it is fun lah..but seeing all those handicapped ppl aslo feel kind of sad..hiaz..got one guy cos of a freak accident den arh cannot walk lor..but overall the trip was good.we learned many things..as for me..i learn not to look at things from only one side..and that..FRIENDS FAMILIES blahblah is not the only stuffs in my life..and that there are many more unfortunate ppl outside..

“Hwa…ewww...of all places, why HWA???”

I told my momma that. She kept silence. Instead, she encouraged me to go. Frankly, on the day when my class paid to visit hwa, I was rather lazy to go. i was thinking why we people have to put up a performance and perform lyk monkeys in front of them??

To think again….i was definitely wrong!! ABSOLUTELY!!!!
The hwa members were great people actually. Especially mr rafi ( oppss…!!) anyway, he was really nice, sharing his experience in hwa…hi living condition…it really touches my heart. Sad to say, I only managed to have chit-chat with mr rafi. Can u ppl imagine.. I only talk with one handicap person, had touched my heart..what about hearing stories about the rest of the hwa members? Oh may gawd…!! Tears would rolling down my cheeks…

Hwa trip was great. It was an eye-opener of me and also for everyone who visit them. Now, then I realised that sacrifices those ppl had to go through. Oh man, I really salute their their braveness in overcoming all obstacles they had to face…

I regretted for making nasty comments about HWA…

The Trip to HWA for CIP is meaningful rather than having us to pick litter and the CIP we did for the last three years.

Our trip to HWA was a unforgettable experience for us. We were the first class to go to HWA. So we were quite unprepared. Our Class performed three items. First,Kengleong played two songs with his recorder. Then,some of them performed 'STOMP'. And sang a Chinese Song. We also gave them a CARD and JELLIES.

After the performance, we had a chance to play basketball on the wheelchair. I think it is quite difficult to control the wheelchair.

The trip to HWA let us realised that we are very lucky.The people there are independent and they are optimistic.Although the people there are disabled, they did not give up their lives. We should also learnt from them and CHERISH our lives. We should not take things for granted.=)

trip to H.W.A was fun...we put up a good performance and i think the people at H.W.A enjoyed it.. we went on to see how the handicap people go through their daily exercise and treatment...i am surprised that there were even tools the handicap people to open a bottle and spread jam on their bread...After all that,we went on to watch a short clip on handicap people...The clip is a bit boring...
After that,it is time for wheelchair basketball!! too bad i didnt get to play cause my classmates want me to be refree but it is fun...haha..that's all....

honestly speaking.

the thought of going to HWA for CIP just turned me off completely.
furthermore, its on a FRIDAY.
a day when i'll be home by 1pm and sleep my day off. (but its much more meaningful as compared to the past when we go to beaches and parks to pick litters)

our class was so not enthusiatic about going there at all.
let alone practise and perform for them.

we dragged till the very day when we're suppose to visit them and we really panicked.
we were so worried that we might just dig a hole and hide our faces when we're performing.
but no fret.
it went on smoothly.

we managed to make use of every minute and second to practise.
we've decided to sing 2 songs. (well, at least better than just standing in front of everyone there and smile awkwardly.)

we sang all the way from our school to HWA
and we had lots of fun.
basically screaming our lungs out and laughing non-stop.

when we arrived there, we were like *devil in disguise*.
in order words, ' ANGELS ' .
so quiet and obedient i must say. (unlike the usual us you see)

we went on to look for andrew, our tour guide.
he brought us to a air-conditioned room and briefed us.
later, he gave us time to reherse again before we really embarrass ourselves.

we went on to perform and i've to represent the class to speak to the audience.

okay okay. here goes.

we went into the room and we all looked SHY.
yes. SHY.
we made a ' last minute card ' for them and it turned out to be great alright.
we sang heartily and earned ourselves with loud applauses.
seeing all the smiles on their face and the applauses they've given me, i felt so GREAT.
really. they made my day.

andrew took us to a tour around HWA, providing us with all the informations he has got in him.
it was really an eye-opener for me.
i get to know different machines for different purposes.

after which, we went back to the same room that we were brought to at the very beginning.
our job was to paste all the addresses on the letters provided by them.
we were diligently doing our job.
we aren't even that focus while doing our homework. LOL

sad to say, we don't have much time left and so we're unable to play the wheelchair basketball.
nevertheless, we had fun and i really enjoyed myself.

last but not least,
i would like to thank mr yeo and mr cheo for making this possible.

It is too much to state here in this blog but i'll try my best to make it short and sweet.The trip over there was worthwile and i've learnt many interesting facts that i've never thought of before. I met the members there and they were all friendly. The equipments over there were vast and all have one main objective, too aid the members there. The cost for the "advance" wheelchair were EXTRAVAGENT and i realise that it might cost the members a year salary that is why i tried my best to help by DONATING and you guys out there should help to. If the least you all donated is a 10 cent coins, then times that 1000 students...that will be like ermmm....duno . count urself =) And this can help to cover up the medical fees for the less fortunate. I think every cent matter to them too.And will be appreciated by them Many interesting thing happened on that and it was quite happening. I even managed to take a quick nap as i was studying efficiently the day before that faithful day. We managed to make the audience which is the members there to smile at our small skit/orchestral thing.. We manage to pull out a stunt to make the skit the day before the event. After the whole grand performance we pull out some of the students got to ride on the grand wheelchair and play basketball on it. we had a great laugh when mr PanG rode on it. He was so natural at it. His a genius and i think he has potential to participate if a competiton comes up. After that we got to explore the premisis..(dunno how to spell). It was quite big and good than what i have expected. After all that we bid farewell..... most of them cried but not me...i smile cheerfully and waving franctically at the members.~~Super Intendent Arjuna

our class went to HWA in march... we had planned to do a skit with a few songs for the ppl at HWA... well... we had stayed back in sch n discussed abt it (though it was not easy to get whole class to sit down n come to a decision...we kind of practised our skits but heck...
we were all in some kind of mess when we got there...haha...u can say tt we were disoganized... i admit tt haha...but we got through all tt in a flash and end up enjoying the whole thing... lolz
~they clapped even it wasnt realli tt good... (maybe they do even understand-our skit was tt kind wif no sound)... lolz... but u could see on their face tt they enjoy having some ppl there u noe...
after tt the ppl there brought us around and introduced HWA to us... we came to noe of alot thing tt hav been to made to make their lives easier... we understand tt it has not been easy for them...i realli admire them for their courage to carry on wif their life , happier wif more hope for their future then before...it is good to see that they are leading their lives wif contentment...
but however contented they are, they still need able bodied ppl like us to help them... either in raising funds or providing them wif encouragement... yeah... and that is u and mi who can lend that helping hand to reach out to them...

It was a really fun and interesting trip at HWA
We get to experience things apart from things we learnt in class
Days before the actual day to HWA,
Our class had came out with ideas
Out of all the ideas
We decided to perform a SKIT there
Though the SKIT did not turn out well due to technical problems
At least we tried. At least we did perform for them.

After the performance...
We were exposed to a wheelchair basketball
Yeah. And I TRIED!!!
it was difficult to control the directions of the wheelchair .
it was more tougher to throw the ball into the hoop
throwing the ball in,
indeed need a lot of strength
and aiming skills . ..
but I seriously hope that I could try
wheel chair basketball again .
it’s like a once in a lifetime moment ..

She also encourages us to take part in volunteering programs.

By contributing small amount of money to help the organisation.
And to cover up the medical fees for the less fortunate
I think every cent matter to them too.
And will be appreciated by them

I believe they did not wish this to happen .
All we can do is to contributes all we can do ..

Hmm... tis year cip programme was nt the same as the usual cip... we got the chance to go to HWA... which is the Handicap Welfare Association... our class hav decided to perform a short skit and sing so songs for the people there.... the main actor of the skit is patrick... hu is the joker of our class... the skit is about a gal and a boi hu fall in love wif the gal(jing wen).. and the boi tink of alot of ways to jio her... Lol... in the end... they were together.... i hav learn alot of tings in HWA... small little changes in the hse means alot diff for the less fortunate ppl... for example... the cupboard in the kitchen is lowered so tt those wheelchair bounded ppl wil b able to reach it... and we also got the chance to play wheelchair basketball... althought the weather was hot... but we had fun there....

Well,the trip to Handicap Welfare Association (HWA) was quite fun to me...at first we took bus to the place. we decided to perform some program like a short skit and sing a song.The skit was about a boy and a girl fall in love...then the song which we sang is .acturally,we had another song to sing.However ,we sang the first song too badly.So we did not a have chance to sing the the other song.I saw many physically disabled people .After the preformance,the manager taught us a lot of knowledge about wheel chair and i managed to learn a lot of things during the trip.Eg.wheelchair basketball.some of our guys played for awhile,and some girls played too.before we return the wheelchairs,i saw a poster about a wheelchair basketball player is doing a SLAM DUNK!!!We were shocked!!!

Last month,our class went to HWA for CIP.
Our classmate had decided to perform skit and sang song to entertain the handicap there .On the way to HWA, our classmate did last minute preparation .When we reached HWA,we saw some handicap in a big room .
After that ,we started to sing the song[ Truely Madly Deeply].After the performance..we were brought to rooms and see the process of their therapy. The process looks simple to us but to them is difficult. The people were very friendly. After that, we were brought to a basketball court to play wheelchair basket ball.ALthough it looks boring but after sitting on the wheelchair and play, i find it very fun. At the end of the day, i feel that we are much luckier than them.

My Trip To HWA was definitely a Fruitful And Fun Experience. Some Of uS Acted foolishly and SAng "horribly" but One Thing Was Certain,We Brought JOy To Them And Put A Smile on their face. Initially,We had Some Problems With the Preparations For Our Skit And Songs, with some people turning up late for "rehearsals" , Making a fool out of themselves and not cooperating. WEll, i kinda blowed My Top at PAtrick which probably hurt his Ego=P. The Day before our Trip to HWA, Somehow, a sense of "urgency" was in them. WE were rushing through The skit,songs and props. It Was kinda FUn though with lots of Laughing scenes ANd silly remarks going on. I Prayed That everything will go smooth tomorrow, hopefully...
We had Some Last minute practice on The Bus and everybody were "enthusiastic" and "excited", practically...
We Started with A Briefing in HWA, performed for them and played WheelChair basketball.
"Wah, Cheng Hou Got Potential Arh..." Silly Remarks Made by Patrick...
WE were showed Around HWA. There are Well-equipped Items for The "less-Fortunate" and training tools Which Train them to Be More independant.
The Trip was a meaningful one as it taught us to treasure our life and respect the "less-fortunate". MOst Importantly, We enjoyed ourselves...

Hihi..

that was one faithful thursday during March when our whole class 4a2 went to HWA for CIP.
HWA = handicap welfare association

When we reached there, i found out that it was a building on its own. I realized that it used to be an old school. Upon reaching there we were led into a room for us to perform our skit and song.
We did some last minute preparation on the skit then we went off to perform for them. We sang Truely Madly Deeply but the radio seemed erm.. spoilt.. they clapped along with us and encouraged us. After singing our classmate performed their skit for them.

It was in a big room where they did their therapy. We were told how to operate a wheelchair. After that we went to different rooms and the person-in-charge
told us what was the utensils for why their kitchen were different from us etc..
after that we outside to play wheelchair basketball, it was quite an experience as it was different fron the usual ones.

After playing for some time, it was time to go. Everything has to end sooner or later and we had a great time there. I had a wonderful experience there.

Truly had a great experience at HWA.we had few rounds of practices before the actual day performing at hwa.At hwa,we did a skit and sang too.During the performance,we kinda laughed the whole time and we were like clowns.However,this is the main objective!.To bring them laughter and joy.At that point when we were performing,i could see smiles on their faces.They were quite supportive though.I'm sure that brighten up their day.After performing.a lady brought us ard and taught us how the less fortunate live and work independently.After all,i think we should appreciated what we have now and do not take things for granted.We may lose what we have anythime.It is surely worth it to do cip at hwa!.

I had learnt a lot when I went to HWA.After I went to HWA, I realised that handicapped people can do a lot of things.The facilities there were very old.This made me realised that we should more money to charity.Even the basic necessity were very old.
we had enjoyed ourselves at HWA.Not only did we performed a skit but also sang some songs.The handicapped people were very friendly and 'forgiving'.Although we had performed badly but they did not show that it was not a good show.One of the audiences even clapped with excitment,we were very touched by the passion they shown.Compared to the people in HWA, I realised that we were very weak in the mental.Everyday they had gone through a lot of theraphy,trying to improve their stamina.Although we were not handicapped but seldom had we wanted to improved our stamina.

Last month my class and I went to HWA. There I met people who are handicapped. They went there every week to rehabilitate parts of their bodies that need rehabilitation. The equipment are mostly exercising machinery while the rest are wheelchairs and wheelchair climbers. I get to try the most expensive wheelchair in the market. It is controlled by a remote control. It can enable a handicapped person to play golf. It was my first time driving such a thing. I don't think they race on them.The best part is riding a sports wheelchair. It is very expensive as it is made of aluminium. I don't think it was supposed to be exciting as it wasn't.nirzam

humm... lets see... on the trip there is kinda fun... kinda interesting... everyone was chatting playing...while i m tryin to shoot mr pang as he is sleeping in the bus!!! hahaha...

bout 30 mins++ we reach HWA... then have to wait for the guy to bring us in... lame... then we got in and we were briefed by a lady there... then she brought us around for a "walk" to let us know the surroundings... later in the noon... about 3 plus... we perform a skit for the "residents" there... but i guess they could hardly understand what our play is... hahaha...

then after the play... we return to the hall and watch a video about the handicap people... the boring video spent about 15 minutes to finish... then we assembled in the car park a.k.a basketball court to have a game of wheelchair basketball... cool...

after that... we return to the hall, get our belongings and return to school... but anyway... it was a cool, fun and memorable trip to be at HWA...

hey,wanqi here. last month, our class went to Handicapped Welfare Association for CIP programme. I really enjoyed myself over there. We were welcomed by the person-in-charge when we get there. She told us about the things that the handicapped do and their physiotherapy. Later, we were led to a room where the handicapped people were doing their exercises n their physiotherapy. We sang a song called "truly madly deeply me" 'melodiously'.
Then the skit is up. Although the performance was different from what we had planned earlier, the handicapped people were still entertained as they clapped loudly. Then, the person-in-charge brought us around the rooms. There is one room with furnitures just like a house. There are also facilities built for the handicapped people to enable them to move around easier. After all these exploration around, i learnt a lot about the disabled and how they live their lives meaningfully and strong. Our last programme of the day is play wheelchair basketball. We enjoyed a lot and the game was filled with excitement and laughter. From this CIP, i learnt a lot of the disabled and how we can look after them. Hope that i can go to HWA again to help them.....

Haha...still remember that time mr yeo say we are going to HWA and i heard it as "kluang" i was so happy i thought we could go back there again...haha i think Geric heard it too than we were still discussing lol....haha.A few weeks before we are going there,we were told to think of a performance for the people there...we were busy discussing about what to perform on that day during our precious FREE PERIOD haha and i was there complaining:p...during the trip to HWA i was worrying about our skit...we were not that well prepared.We performed some what badly infront of them due to a technical error as we are unable to use the radio.We were educated by the people there how the handicapped people live themself and we learn alot of thing about them...including the motorised wheel chair...we were taught to play wheel chair basketball too:).It was fun,i think cheng hou got potential in sitting at the wheel chair playing it:p....it was a wonderful experience though.hope we can brighten up their life.Wishing them best of luck....

Hi.. I find this H.W.A. trip very benefical to me. This trip was organised by our school to entertain those people there as well as to know more about HWA's history. We arrived at H.W.A. at around 3pm on a Thursday afternoon and began with our performance which we spent about 2 weeks preparing it. We rehearsed for the last time on our way there. We performed a skit and sang 'Truely Madly Deeply'. I am surprised that the members there are so friendly. Especially when they demostrated to us how handicap people carry on with their life independently. I felt that we are really very lucky compared to them. What we can do is to encourage them and help them by donating money to HWA to let HWA carry on helping those people.

This year, our class 4a2 did a different cip progamme.. not like past year we did newspaper collection. this year we went to hwa for our CIP on the 9th of march. i learn alot of things during our trip there. we were supposed to do a performance there. we decided to do a short skit with patrick as our main actor and also to sing a song. but that day was not our day, during the song, there was some problems with the radio, our skit also did not work out. there was not enough space for us and we did a bad job. despite doing such a bad job there, the people there still cheered for us, which was avery touching. after the skit, we went on a tour around the home, followed by watching a video made by the people there. we then proceed to a small basketball court just outside the home for wheelchair basketball. this was a game which all of us had never played before. at first, we had difficulties controlling the wheelchair and shooting the ball. but after a while, cheng got used to it and started scoring. we said he has potential playin wheelchair basketball. haha. we played for a while and proceed back to the hall for question and answer. we then went back at around 3.30. this was a wonderful experience for me. i learnt alot of things from this trip to hwa.

This is a very enjoyable trip to HWA. Our majestic journey began from school. We went there by specially chartered bus. It was a state of pandemoniun in the bus as Wen Chuan start playing with Arjuna. As we reach there, it was a rundown place which i think needed major renovation. in Hwa, we had waited for the person-in-charge to bring us on a welcome tour. It was a great and beautiful place with a big field. there a variety of services like provision of transportation for the physically challenged and learning to cope with their daily home life. There is a course where Hwa members learned basic skills of computing and business administration. Therapy is also provided, together with high tech 21st century equipment at a heavily subsidised cost of around $8. Of many came for the cheap treatment. On our tour around Hwa,i saw some in training young therapists from nanayng poly. We had a small amusing play to cheer up some members who look really despodent. After all the performance, we went out for a game of handicapped basketball....It was a best game i have ever played... Although some of us did not try the game but was happy to witness the game. Life is surprising at times so let us live our life to the fullest.

for the first ever time i see such big gathering of physically disabled in one place. That place looks like a rundown, old , patched here and there. Although in such condition, efforts of improving the condition of the place can be seen.(eg. windowslot that is placed with air-conditional to 'patch up'.

there are so many machines to help the patients....making seem old and high tech at the same time,especially those motorised wheelchairs. The guide said that the fastest i can go is 6km/h which cause me to think --- it will take probably 5 hours to cross the entire CTE.

i seen handicapped sportmen on television but not on real life, this visit allowed me to witness their proness in their sport with my own eyes.

Yoz everyone...

CIP has finally changed from picking rubbish to visiting the handicapped...

So, we are going to HWA...
Not something special though... (Still CIP...)

During the trip to HWA( by bus... FYI...), we are so high that we sing along...

At HWA, we put on our skit which we have been practising in school... It is 3 short skit combined to become 1... and with classmates singing in the middle of the show(not that loud enough...)

Then we are being taught to play wheelchair basketball where our class clowns keep on fooling around... (No offence) But it's hilarious...

Then we are being shown around and to learn many things, different machineries to help them to feel like a normal person and to lead a normal life...

I must say this is a different experience compared to the other CIP program...

About the trip to HWA... Ya... After visiting HWA... I found out that actually... I'm much much fortunate than the people in HWA... The person in charge told us that HWA is actually situated in an old school... Mr Yeo and Mr Cheo organised this trip for all the graduating class as a form of CIP... We learnt quite a lot of things gaining knowledge about the how the disabled people benefit from HWA... The special utensils that the people use to make their lives easier kind of amazed 4A2 quite alot... Also, almost the whole class participated in the singing of songs and performing of the skit... Although the performance we put up was not really well done but still... the people still enjoyed it and applauded it... That really warm our hearts... Although we only spent a couple of hours, but 4A2 really enjoyed this trip to HWA.... That's all....

HWA,which is a stange name for me last time.However I know it better since I been to HWA.This trip to HWA is very beneficial to me...Until now then I knew that being on a wheelchair is such a difficult thing...Our class rehearsal at the last moment in the bus and at hwa. The performance was a success!After performance,we got to know the members there better and it kind of surprised me that they are so friendly and very nice people.We were showed how they can carry on with their life indepently with just a bit of help from some equipment. I realised we are really all very lucky compared to them. But we should not pratronised them for they are actually capable of doing things many thought they could not.They really try them best to learn.
After this trip,I will much pity my life.~~

well...this year our school had organised a more interesting cip for us..not collecting newspapers or go around asking people for donations but a trip to HWA . It's something new and fun .Our class 4a2 had prepared some songs and skit for the people at HWA . Although we did make some nuisance out of ourselves..the people there are very encouraging and it really warmth our hearts . We also get to know alot of other things and how's life of the people there..We also get to know some interesting products for the disabled people to use in order to make their life easier...we managed to see a video of some of the successful disabled people..Although they are disabled..they never give up and become some successful people ..their spirits are very recommendable ...We also get to participate in one of the sports game - basketball..but it's abit different from the normal basketball....it's wheelchair basketball...I am one of the lucky ones who had the chance to try it ...the wheelchair is very difficult to control when you first sat on it...but when you play awhile more...it became more easy and i actually enjoyed a lot ...it's a new experience for me ...After the game..it's time to go...I really enjoyed this meaningful CIP....=)

H.W.A TRIP 4A2 hq

So sianz... nothing to do there. we reach there at about 3 plus and i found out that the place is so old and rather small. At first i thought there is no one in the place. There is nothing to say about this trip but sian la. we cannot do anything there and our performance is so lame we are so embarrassed. Luckily they are handicapped otherwise they will be standing up throwing rubbish at us. The only thing that benefit me is the tfork and spoon in a room. Those special fork and spoon made me want to do my DNT project as my project needs lots of new design.
When the teaher told us that we were given a chance to play the wheelchair basketball we were very happy but when we reached there, we saw that they have a limited wheelchairs and we needs to share. This is totally different when we saw the video clip in the the school. I thought that the place were be fun but it lets me down. Haiz...
However, i realise that all the people in the H.W.A were quite poor. Everyone should try our very best to help the people in H.W.A and made their life gets better. I wish all handicapped people in H.W.A can get well soon

I enjoy my one day cip in hwa...especially when we get to perform in front of the patients...They enjoy our performance even thongh we did rather badly for the performance.
I get to know the latest invention on the wheelchair. From the experience,i began to feel that i am very fortunate.I feel a little pitiful for them as they are all in wheelchairs because they are unable to walk or run with their legs..unlike the lucky people like us.I enjoy most when we get to play basketball on wheelchairs.The structure of the wheelchairs is designed in such a way that the physically unabled patients can play basketball like normal people like us.From the instructor,i knew that patients like them can also learn to swim like normal people like us.I admire them very much because some of us,normal people do not know how to swim.Surprisingly,they perform better then us in several ways,eg:sports.

The trip to HWA is a memorable one. It was my first visit and it surely isnt the last. I've learnt alot of things. Things that us, perfectly normal human beings, dont understand.

On the 9th of March, my class went to visit the patients at HWA. As we walked anxiously along the corridors to get to the multi-purpose room, I could see smiles on the patients' faces. But I could tell that deep inside they are suffering. Some of them sat on their wheelchairs either talking or enjoying the peaceful environment. When we get to the multi-purpose room, we were given some time to rehearse. But unfortunately we were given only a few minutes as we have to perform before the patients' shift ended. The song a group of us sang was a last minute thing. There was something wrong with the CD that we ended up repeating the chorus. Another group of us acted a play. It was a very touching story even though we have very childish looking props. We ended our performance about an hour later and after that we went to the rooms to see what's inside. Watched some of my classmates played wheelchair basketball. It was very humourous indeed. They could even walk to get the ball when they are suppose to act like handicaps.

The trip to HWA made me realise that i should not take things for granted because anything can happen, even by accident. -nurulhuda,4A2.

Lets see bout this trip to HWA..I found it beneficial to me. We were there to serve the disabled people living in HWA.Why we need to serve them I really don't know, maybe to bring joy to their life? Well our class was supposed to perform a skit there and I was supposed to sing, so I just practice singing. How I knew about HWA? Through the teachers and the lady that brought us around. The experience I gained learned how to be more tolerant bout the disabled and able to understand their problems better.
When we reach there and a lady brought us around the place, she finally brought us to a small room which is their "hall”. Our skit was "ruined" as the CD player was spoilt and no songs could be played. With only the skit, the show could not be understood but still it was a combined effort of the class. I guess we should let more people know more about HWA and hope they will donate some money to HWA.I guess we never really talked to the people there and never try to understand the troubles they have.
After the trip, I think the biggest challenge there was to interact with the people there and i don't know what to do to help them. The lesson I learned was to know the problems they faced through the explanation of the lady. I never really make a difference to their life. I don't think I want to do this again in my life. I don't think I accomplished anything also. No greatest success. Advice to other people, please be kind and donate to HWA, they really need all the donation they can get.

The CIP was not only meaningful. It was also very educational. The trip to HWA is different from all the other CIP I have attend to. The trip to HWA had actually made me open my eyes wide to see the hardship some people are facing and how they managed to overcome their obstacles. Though it was a short trip, it create an eye-opener scene not only for me. But also for the whole sec 4 and 5 level.
Each sec 4 and 5 classes were told to come up with a performance for the people at HWA. Our class did it. It never went as we plan. But still, we have fun performing for them : Singing ‘Truly, madly, deeply’ by salvage garden and performing a skit (main actor Patrick, main actress Jing Wen). In my opinion it was quite nice. But i don't know about the patient there.
At HWA, an introduction was being made. Then we were given time to prepare for our performance. Need a lot of time to do so. We were not exactly that prepared to do the performance. That’s why.
We did the performance for them but I can see that they were bored and did not understand our performance. It was such an embarrassment singing to them.
It was a very meaningful experience. Learnt new things there like how they overcome their barriers. They never stop doing things that they like despite their problems. Those are things that I should learnt.
Before leaving, we played wheelchair basketball. People like Cheng Hou and Alex were like professional playing it.

The trip to hwa was about few minutes, finally we arrived, the place was big and have many facilites for disable people to do some exercise.I felt that the disable people never give up even if they cannot walk but they have hands which can work and play like normal people , they wanted to be like normal person independent.

hey~ i had a wonderful time at HWA.. although we had to practice dance for many hours before we could be presentable... also, the playing with the wheel chair was a totally new experience for me... in this trip, i learned alot of new stuff.. stuff such as..learning how to use wheel chair, and most of all how to dance.. i hope the performance was good enough. haha it also fun to interact with people who were disabled. although they are disabled, i think they still have a heart to enjoy. From this trip, our class has bonded alittle bit more than before.. i hope.. i also hope that we had more time at HWA. i feel that if we had more time there, we could entertain the people there more and could interact and know them better. all in all, this trip to HWA was full of excitement, experience, joy, and fun.

The day spent at HWA was great...When we reached there...The HWA guy came and led us to room where we could rehearse for our class performance....Den after a while..It was time to perform...Our class guys did us proud by performin a few songs for them..With our talented Ridhwan as the guitarist....Some of the people there even smiled and clapped along with us..It was like touchin la.....There was one guy..His name was Terrance..He had a very high fever in camp that led to the lost of his ability to speak...But like the other people there....He was very optimistic..He showed us one of his regular exercises..The HWA person says he's very hardworkin...He'd come down everyday without fail to exercise...Den after that we mingled with them for abit and some of them had to go home...They needed to be transported in this van which had this elevator thingy attached to it and i helped one guy onto the van! He was kinda sweet ya...After that we were shown the rest of the rooms.....The trip to HWA was really something new but meaningful...I thank God for wad i have now....And should treasure my life cause it could be taken away from mi anytime...Olivia 4s1..

my class went to HWA on the 22nd of march. for some reason, i was in the dance group and we didn't get to have much practice due to time constraint.

i was rather nervous but luckily the performance went well.

i think that going to HWA was definitely memorable. it was fun as i was able to dance with my classmates. and if given the chance...i would love to do it again....

i felt exhilarated when i saw the smiles on their faces...that was what that makes me feel goood about performing for them.......

with this experience....i have become more confident to perform in front of people

this trip has also made me understand their plight and i learnt alot about HWA and their cause.

Our class are the first class to go to hwa.when we reach there we were greeted by the person-in-charge there.we perform a few item for the handicaps ther and then we distributed jellies to them.Afterward the person-in-charge brought us around the place and tell us wat all the facilities are for.we see that the kitchen the handicap use is shorter than the normal one and there are some special device for them to open the cap of the seasoning and more.we also play basket ball in the wheel chair also,we all take turn to sit at the wheel chair and try to shoot the basketball inside the hoop.It is very hard and most of us miss.The wheel chair is quite difficult to control at first but after a while once you get the hand of it you will find it quite easy to control.The people there are very nice and friendly and we even take picture with some of them.I has a fun time there and it is a very memorable trip.

well, finally there's a change in cip activities. no more collecting newspapers or some rubbish in the beach.
my trip to hwa was a meaningful and interesting one.
my class rehearsed in e bus as we were really not prepared.
even when we reached hwa, we rehearsed again.
in the end we managed to pull through our performance. i could tell that the people in hwa enjoyed our performance from the smiles on their faces.
then, we interacted with the people there.

it's quite saddening to know that accidents had caused them to be handicapped.
they're not able to enjoy life being normal as being handicapped is not easy.
however, i'm glad that they stayed optimistic and even though being wheelchair bound, they still continued a normal life.

a guy named andrew gave us a tour around hwa. he showed us how the handicapped can move around with the help of a machine and also, the place had an independent living corner where they could do everything by themselves such as opening a can or washing
the dishes, those simple stuffs that we normal people could do.
they didnt give up trying to be normal, instead they persevered.
i'm fortunate that God has given me the ability to be able-bodied.

overall,i enjoyed my day in hwa and it was a great experience for me.
we should be grateful for what we are now.
able to walk and talk unlike those who are stuck in the wheelchair.
also, we should spare more thoughts on the handicapped.

well, frankly speaking, i didn’t really have much enthusiasm for the HWA trip initially. i thought it would have been a bore and a waste of time, but my views change completely when I reach there. at first I thought the people there would be rather isolated, but they are actually very friendly. our performance was great and it brought a smile on the their face.
I really admired their indomitable willpower to carry on with their life and live like a normal a person just like us. this make me realize that we must treasure what we have now before we actually lose it. chinese has this saying ”heaven never seals off all exits”, so never give up hope and believe in yourself =) ~kexin(4s2)

Firstly I would like to thank the teachers for letting us have the opportunity to visit HWA, The trip is an eye-opener to me, as through this trip, I realised how unfortunate some people are. Even though Im not fit or in the pink of health, I am obliged to have the ability to walk, talk and move unlike some unfortunate ones in the world.

When Ms Kaur and my class 4a3 arrived at HWA, we headed straight to meet this guy Andrew who showed us around and led us to an air conditioned room to let us rehearse our performance.
HONESTLY, WE HAD NO REHEARSAL OR MUCH PLANS BEFORE THAT
(except for the crazy sing-along in the bus). *sheesh*

But hey, we managed to sing 2 songs alright!
And I let out a sigh of relieve after seeing the people at HWA smiling and looking as if they do enjoy our performance.
(Maybe they just dont want to embarrass us! *grins*)

Wei Han, Daryl and Iris looked like theyre enjoying playing with the wheelchair..pushing it up and down the transport van and getting to sit on it, experiencing how the handicaps are positioned into the transport.
It was interesting though.

We interacted with the people there. I was holding back my tears when I saw how the people there are struggling to be as normal as possible..like us. Going through therapies and all looks so arduous.

It was a tear-jerking experience for me to look at them struggle with their disabilities and to interact with them. Some of them still cant get over the disabilities that they have, yet they are still putting on a strong front by smiling and being positive. Theyre my true inspiration. I was pleased to be able to sign in the class card for HWA..telling them a simple yet meaningful message:
Life Isnt Always Easy, Have Faith.

hello.. our trip was to hwa is so so so fun!! We were the very first class to go and there really wasnt much time for preparation. Actually I wasnt very excited too. But it turned out to be a real meaningful trip. Our class rehearsal at the last moment in the bus and at hwa. The performance was a success! No major fumble or anything! We got to know the members there better and it kind of surprised me that they are so friendly and very nice people. I guess we all had misunderstandings bout the disabled. We were showed how they can carry on with their life indepently with just a bit of help from some equipment. I realised we are really all very lucky compared to them. But we shouldnt pratronised them for they are actually capable of doing things many thought they couldnt. Overall, i felt that i learnt alot. It was meaningful and very fun. =]

Having been through a whole lot of boring cips the school forced us...(eg picking up crap at sembawang park...) i really dreaded this trip to hwa.HOwever, this experience is totally different.i felt seriously touched when when a guy clapped rhythmically to our not-so-melodious singing.i've learnt something extremely valuable:you dont have to spend money to feel happy, sincerity is more than enough.

well firstly...the hwa trip was one of the memorable trip since the day i join opss...it was fun and educational...the best thing is that we were able to perform and entertain the more physically challenge people there...while performing, i know that some of them were enjoying the performance....our class dance and sing...i just felt happy when i could see some of them smiling as watching us dance....after the performance, "mr andrew" if i am not wrong, showed the machine that could help the wheelchair people to be able to move up the stairs without much difficulty...after that, he brought us around the building... i learn quite a bit of stuff...i really enjoyed the trip...and i am willing to go for more of such trips as not only i will be able to learn something but to be able to be there with them and entertain them so that i can bring a smile on their faces...that is the most important thing...right???

trip to HWA was fantastic. even though being the first class to go to HWA and we are not so prepared. our class still did a GREAT job. =D basically there was 4 pieces of songs played by KENG LEONG, a stomp, two songs and JELLIES! after that we were brought around HWA to know more about the facilities. then we had a GREAT game of basketball, even though we are basically just trying to throw the ball into the hoop. =)

the members in HWA are superbly nice and friendly. i find that they are very optimistic too. many of them still engages in sports and some are still learning to handle kitchenware and such, in order to make their life better.

through this trip, we ought to treasure our own lives. there are so many others who are disabled, yet they did not give up their lives and just commit suicide. while those, who are perfectly alright, chose death as their path and said that its fated. we ought to learn how to love our lives and treasure it.

besides, HWA has great facilities and provides transportation services and helps all the disabled to be able to travel to another place without. one of my relatives gonna be a member of HWA! =)

The trip was fun.

So,I guess our class had put in quite a lot of effort for this trip,
the dance and the songs and stuff.
It was interesting to see how things worked over there.You know,some of the devices designed for them.
It was great to see that most of them have managed to overcome the psychological barrier and they are actually pretty optimistic.
The people were all extremely friendly.

On the whole,the trip was great.
Many of us were truely touched by what we saw and experienced over at HWA,
and I believe that we've learnt to be appreciative after experiencing what the less fortunate people around us went through.

that was what i thought in my head when i first came to learn that we were required to stage a performance for the disabled. i'm sure many of you guys were like that too. (dun be shy now, we are all in the same boat) anyways, our class prepared nothing at all for the upcoming performance (and seriously, i dun think any one cares. that includes me of course) and we, along with Miss Kaur, who was terrified of being laughed at, panicked that last minute. however, we did manage to sing not one, but TWO songs. wow (sarcasm included). but i have to say, we did a pretty good job. *laughs*

anyway, i dunno how to express my thoughts appropriately to make you guys understand how i felt when i was there. most people might pity them, feeling sorry that they are the way they are. but for me, i had nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for them; for they have lasted for so long without giving up.

and their bravery and courage is far greater then none of us can ever comprehend.

the trip to HWA was fun.
the performances my class set up was entertaining and funny. and the people at HWA liked it. alot.

this particular CIP trip has made me understand that there are still charity organisations that are sincere in helping the disadvantaged.
unlike. big time organisations like NKF.

also. the trip helped me noticed that since we are able to help. we should do so. whether financially, emotionally, or physically ( note. physically meaning helping them travel around or helping them complete daily chores that would pose as a obstacle for them. )

overall. i think this CIP has been the best one ever.
and we should all help the needy. instead of looking down on them.

Its so fun!! I finally got to do what im good at.. Socialising with people who are not very fortunate like us.. Our class spread loadsa love at WHA.. we left many hearts touched.. aw.. so shweet.. heex..

We were very rushed when we reached there.. My group, unfortunately, wasn't very ready for our performance.. We were tied up with our decisions about which song to play for them.. I was like "Ok.. 1st we're gonna play Welcome To My Life by Simple Plan combined with Collide by Howie Day.." BUT final ammends... heex.. My group played Collide by Howie Day.. Which was actually in ruins because of the last part.. Someone got into the song too early.. But its not her fault.. Heex.. It wasn't very noticable.. Good job guyz!!

Next song that i played was a chinese song that was sung by Siang Ann ALONE!! Since i didn't know the beat or the song that i was going to play.. I MADE MY OWN CHINESE SONG!! Heex.. I hope that wasn't recorded on tape!! How embarassing!! hahas.. It was very fun!! lolz..

After his SOLO, the whole class came together ang sang another chinese song!! but this time.. I had my ex-girlfriend accompanying me.. As in a "guitar duet" it was a touching song.. Aww.. That was a memorable event worth recording on tape!! Our class was like SO UNITED!! hahas.. Then again.. We're always united..

What a fun day for me!! Came to school late coz i went to the doctor to check out my bruised ribs.. By the time i reached school.. It was time to TAKE A CLASS PHOTO!! This time WITH ME!! hahas.. I wasn't in da picture last year coz i was on 2 days mc...hahas.. Then TO WHA!!

HWA. this cip programme definitely beats picking up trash off the streets, running after people with tin cans and dragging piles of newspapers and unwanted goods around blocks. this time it was much more personal. something i guess only pupils who had hopefully matured by sec 4 could do.

the aspect of going to HWA didnt exactly excite me as much as having missed about two periods in school because of the trip. the location the HWA was rather intriguing. smack in the centre of HDB blocks. perhaps cause it was more accessible for those to visited HWA. as soon as we entered, we were greeted by the sight of the patients going about their ''everyday'' routine. it was worlds apart from ours though. it then hit me really hard that these people were actually suffering. i felt a twinge of guilt as well cause it seemed like we had come to view them as though they were specimens. i really wished we could have sat down and talked to them. teach them painting, maths...anything. anything that would bring our different worlds closer. the memories are rather fuzzy but i guess we went into some sort of mini hall where andrew ( dude in charge of e place ) told us bout HWA and asked bout the performances we were going to be putting up. we then quickly set off going about practicing the guitar, dance steps..etc.

as soon as we had finished the performance for the residents there i was grinning from ear to ear. i felt sooooo proud although i hadly did anything apart from introducing our class and simply standing by the side smiling like a fool as the audience member cheered along with the music. it must really take alot to be happy for them after what they have gone through. and that happiness most probably rushes away as soon as it comes for they will never be the way they used to be. sorry for the language, but it really sucks for them.

it was fantastic though, to see them clapping, brimming with happiness and i think i did hear them asking for an encore. we den proceeded on to taking pictures with the residents. my camera is seriously nutty, u have to hold it rock steady so e picture will come out focussed but tht was hard. so i simply took quick and shaky pictures of the residents cause they seemed to love it! i didnt care if the pictures were nice at all, all i cared at that time was about their delight at being included in a photograph. nothing in the world could ever match that amount of emotions running through me that day. we did get a tour of various rooms in which activities such as art was carried out. towards the end we played wheelchair basketball. dead fun yes. but seeing the looks on the resident's faces earlier that day was ever FUNNER! (if therez such a word, which there isnt).

Mr yeo, thank you. thanks for this greatt oppurtunity. u have shined some light not only in the resident's lives but also into ours.( well, definitely mine.)

The CIP done at HWA was really unforgettable and meaningful. It is a lot more meaningful than what we did for the previous CIPs(picking up litter, collecting newspapers,etc.)
My class is the first class to go to HWA and was rather unprepared. We performed several items and made a card and gave them jellies. We also got a chance to play basketball on wheelchair.
The people in HWA were all optimistic, cheerful and friendly.It was really nice to see them. I also realise how fortunate i am to be able to walk, talk and do many other things.
